Where does search end and social begin?

SEO (search engine optimisation) is an ever changing area. As Google updates its algorithms and throws out pandas and penguins (not literally we might add), the rules around SEO alter too.

But alongside this is social. Before social we just had SEO. Now we have both, and the lines are fast becoming blurred. We are now entering a time where you can’t have one without the other. This is down to the fact that what people will search for, is also the same as what they are interested to see on your social sphere too.

The blurring of lines

You now need to create content that utilises keywords but is also interesting content at that. Things that people want to share. Search will always be needed, but social media is fast becoming just as important. Gone are the days when you could just churn out content from an SEO purpose, you now need to really start thinking about your audience and how they use this content.

It is time to start seeing the two working and interlinking together. Look over your content and follow these simple rules:

– Are you optimising your content? Do you have enough keywords in there?
– Are your keywords relevant to the content of your blog post?
– Is it interesting enough for your audience to want to share it?
– Are you encouraging your audience to share your content?
– Is your social media enticing enough?
– Are you considering the two elements together?

If you answered ‘no’ to any of the above questions, or you really had to stop and think, it may be time to start overhauling your content. Give it some thought. This change and pace in terms of search and social will only get faster and more prominent. Don’t get lost along the way.
