What’s your Pinterest?

The latest craze in social media is the image-sharing network, Pinterest. But what is it I hear you ask? Well Pinterest is basically a virtual Pin-board that allows you to ‘pin’ your favourite items, images, places and so on, to your own boards.
You can have multiple boards and you are encouraged to follow other ‘pinners’. You can browse other peoples boards and get ideas and inspiration from them. So, whether you want to re-style your living room, provide your partner with gift ideas or even pin recipes for dinner parties, Pinterest is the place.
So how can Pinterest benefit brands?
Well, since its initial launch in September last year, Pinterest has seen growth from 1.6 million visitors to a staggering 11.1 million. In fact, Pinterest is now responsible for driving more traffic to retail sites than Google+, YouTube and LinkedIn combined. Just imagine the buying power!
Many brands have already jumped on the Pinterest bandwagon, but most are yet to see its potential.
So how can you get involved?
1. Well firstly, sign up. It is easy and simple to do, www.pinterest.com.
2. Secondly, get pinning. Be creative and use your own ideas and style. Add images of the things you sell, whether that be products or services.
3. Thirdly, interact. Feedback on other peoples pins, follow boards you like and they will follow you in return. Pinterest allows you to comment on peoples pins and make notes on your own pin-boards.
The key to Pinterest is to get creative and experiment with different ideas. Include pictures of your own products and services and get your name out there.
