Legal firms – are you dominating your web search?

It appears that only eight personal injury brands are currently dominating web searches of potential clients. This has also highlighted the fact that social media is being left behind when it comes to legal services.
A recent study by digital marketing agency, Stickyeyes, has shown that 56% of personal injury searches during 2011 included brand names, but a leading eight personal injury firms actually accounted for 80% of these.
This means that these eight companies were monopolising the search market due to the fact that other law firms were not utilising SEO or social media in an effective way. These main firms were Accident Advice Helpline, Irwin Mitchell, National Accident Helpline, Claims Direct, Thompsons Law, Pannone, Fentons and Injurylawyers4u. The most popular search term was ‘personal injury claims’ at around 30% with ‘road traffic accidents’ taking up 25%.
The report by Stickyeyes shows that “high levels of exposure within these markets are critical to success”.
When it comes to social media, no one player was dominating. Which leads to several things, the first being, that if you create the right social media strategy, you could really push your brand and generate more leads.
It is a saturated industry in terms of many law firms offering a similar service or product. But it all comes down to how you are marketing yourself. Organic search is key. If you are not putting your efforts here then you are missing out.
The head of research at Stickyeyes, Phil McGuin has said “A large coordinated spend across organic, paid and social media online could also reap dividends for entrants wanting to capitalise on one of the fastest growing markets within the legal services sector, currently valued at £3.5bn.
