Google +1 – what on earth does it do?

4:54 pm

Google +1 may affect how your site ranks in search engines. +1 is a way for Google users to say they like your website or a specific page on it clicking a +1 button that looks like this on your web pages. If someone “likes” your site then it appears in search engine results. Google have also indicated that they will use the “likes” from the +1 button along with many other ranking factors to help rank your website in Google. Google’s +1 buttons are more common than the tweet button on major web destinations. Add the +1 button to your website so that your visitors can click on it to “like”. If you are interested in having the +1 button added to your website, email us here.

Although Google+ is still in its infancy, it has gained 40 million users in just a few months which gives some indication of its pick-up and how ‘hot’ it is. You no longer need an invitation to join and businesses can build their own Brand pages for visibility and SEO purposes. Stream Its features, whilst similar to other Social Networking sites, have some extras and of course different names. Google+ Stream = newsfeed but using the Circles feature with Stream means you can switch which Stream you see at any time i.e. click on your business circle when in Stream and only get newsfeed from that Circle. Top 5 Google+ tips

November 22, 2011 4:04 pm

If someone “likes” your site then it appears in search engine results with a +1 icon. Google have also indicated that they will use the “Likes” from the +1 button along with many other ranking factors to help rank your website in…

It may not be ‘working for you’ because you’re doing it wrong!
