Advice from the Dragons Den

We all know that we have to use the web to get the best results for our business, right?

Well, Doug Richard, the serial entrepreneur, and one of the original investors of BBC’s Dragons Den, is crying out for SMEs to increase their online activities.

Why? Quite simply because it will help you grow your business and make more money!

Doug Richard was recently in Manchester to launch his Web Fuelled Business Programme and said,

“The key about online trading is to make sure your customers can find you and that if they’re searching for your products on Google, the chance of discovering you should be high. Search engine optimisation is really important.”

SEO is certainly the key factor in enabling your customers to find you. But having an online presence these days is not just about having a website. As Doug Richard points out, social media is also key and it will enable you to drive your business to a far wider audience than your website alone can do. The internet is the most valuable tool we have in terms of marketing and in order to keep your business heading in the direction that it needs to, you must be using it to its fullest potential.

“This year is set to be one of the toughest economic environments in recent history – and my goal is to persuade SMEs that your country needs you, as our economy depends on the survival of our small businesses. They must use the internet as their lifeline.”

As an SME, you need to take an active role in using the web and ensuring you have a good web presence.
